3 Idiots is 2009 Indian Bollywood (Hindi Language) Comedy Drama film. 3 Idiots is directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and the story is written by Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra & Abhijat Joshi. Its star cast are Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani & Omi Vaidya. Story of the film is based on the novel "Five Point Someone: What not to do at IIT", written by Chetan Bhagat, and the novel was published in 2004. Film was remade in Mexican as "3 Idiotas", released in 2017 and in Tamil as "Nanban", released in 2012. It was released in China in December 2011 as "San Geshagua".

Film also won three awards in National Film Awards, such as "Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment" won by Rajkumar Hirani & Vidhu Vinod Chopra, "Best Lyrics" & "Best Audiography". Film did very well at Indian box office and also recovered its total budget and made huge amount of profit. It was the highest grossing film of 2009.
